David Hayes
Head Greens Superintendent

David was born in Tuscon, Arizona and grew up on the Monterey Peninsula. He graduated from Monterey High School and started in the golf business in 1979 at Old Del Monte Golf Course. From there, he transferred to Spyglass Hill for 5 years and then moved to Poppy Hills in 1985. After completing the NCGA’s 2 year Superintendent’s Intern Program, he took the Assistant Superintendent position under Bob Zoller at Monterey Peninsula Country Club. With 5 years under his belt at MPCC, he then became the Head Superintendent here at Salinas Golf and Country Club in 1994.

David enjoys the outdoors and his passion is seeing the Members enjoy their well maintained and special golf course.
