A grand old course with a 21st century attitude! It’s old. It’s new. It’s Salinas Golf & Country Club!
Designed by Jack Fleming, the Salinas golf course opened in 1925. Salinas G&CC is part of an inclusive group of California courses designed by Mr. Fleming, which include Santa Rosa G&CC, Golden Gate Park GC and the original Harding Park GC in San Fransico. There are no fewer than two dozen golf courses listed on the internet that credit Mr. Fleming with their design.
Salinas Golf and Country Club is a limited membership, private golf club that was incorporated in 1959. Originally a nine-hole course, it has been developed into a challenging 18-hole layout with tree-lined fairways and beautifully manicured greens.
A phrase often heard from newcomers to the course is: “This is one of the best values in Monterey County.”
In 1993, an extensive modernization project was completed that included the rebuilding of several greens and installation of a computer controlled irrigation system.
More recently, Salinas G&CC has teamed with Greenway Golf, a golf course management company that’s fully committed to helping the members of Salinas G&CC enjoy the latest, greatest — and greenest — methods of agronomy and golf course management.
